We are on vacation for two weeks, at my parents’ weekend house in the Catskills.
Just me, the kids and Husbandrinka. And Nicki.
This is the first year in recent memory that we are not having a beach vacation– usually we head out to Block Island, but last year’s ferry ride (and the economy) cured me of that.
So we are staying put, in the Catskills.
Where we will play tennis at the local high school courts, go for walks, swim in the pond, play Cat Monopoly and I will finally tackle my summer reading list.
I have a laptop, but no TV.
I can’t wait.
To come back to civilization.
Kidding.

Enjoy! The city is shedding tears in your absence.
I just got home a few hours ago from two weeks away. I have never been so happy to see my computer and my TV and my own bed.
Enjoy!!
But you’re missing the Real Housewives of New Jersey!!
But then how will you get your US Weekly delivered? This is not going to go well, obviously.
Enjoy your vacation. We’ll just bang our heads on the wall from boredom until you come back to brighten our lives.

Okay, wait.
Do you play Cat Monopoly because you are in the Catskills? Is there some kind of local ordinance about embracing the lifestyle of all things cat? Do the cats square off against the dogs like the Sharks and the Jets, with lots of finger-snapping?
I’m sorry. It’s really early here.

At least there are no escalators in the Catskills.
Have a great vacay! It’s a brave woman who goes away to a place without any television.
I loathe family vacations.

I remember that ferry post well.
Hope you enjoyed it. I, too, went on vacation though without the husband and with the 3 kids. I had no internet, which is why I’ve been absent from here for the last month. I thought I’d emerge all liberated from technology, but now I just have twitches and a need to know about everything Kim Kardashian ate at her wedding.
