Welcome to another edition of I’m Right, You’re Wrong, where I ask you to weigh in on matters of great importance.
This week we have a debate centering around the love and care of our beloved cat Nicki.
Disagreers: Marinka and Husbandrinka
Disagreement: How should Nicki’s food be served to her?
Position One: Out of the can, like God and Fancy Feast intended it to be!
Position Two: Served with some flair. Just because Nicki is a cat doesn’t mean that she doesn’t enjoy a nice presentation.
Nicki is waiting for your response. This is her profile. In courage.

I was going to vote for “out of the can.” But now I see that you all (yes, I live in Texas) actually dump the cat food out of the can. Showoffs. So I guess if I have to choose, I still choose “out of the can.”
p.s. Sorry if that is not the correct vote.
I’m going to have to go in the can shape. Mainly because that is how I serve my cranberry sauce at Thanksgiving. Gourmet dishes galore……and then the canned sauce. It’s classy.
That’s the way the cranberry sauce is best! Unless it is orange-cranberry-walnut relish. Which is YUM.
Recipe please for yummy orange cranberry walnut relish!!
Uhm, my cat prefers mice for his dinner (we lost him by the way, anybody seen a small black panter, listens to the name Atilla)
Having had an incredibly spoiled…ummm, I mean well-cared for….cat, the garnished with white glove service is the only way to serve a cat.
I’m going to have to say straight out of the can. But I have a feeling it’s the wrong answer this time! Oops!

Flair? I’m shocked that her food is in what looks like a handmade dish rather than a plastic bowl. Obviously I know nothing.

My cat, otherwise known as master, would hack hairballs in my favorite shoes and ritually sacrifice one of our dogs if I neglected to properly distribute and garnish his Fancy Feast in one of his decorative bowls.
So I go with Option 2.
Always good to keep the dark overlord pleased, that’s my motto.
I think the first pic — straight from the can — looks like a fine restaurant where the chefs use those round forms to layer the food and make it look like a work of art. The second pic? All mashed up? Looks like the cat already ate and either threw it up, or…well…processed it another way. Ahem.

I put my five year old in charge of feeding our cat, so I’m pretty sure that disqualifies me from voting.
New Yorkers are such elitists. Down south we do it dry, kibbles and bits bitches, kibbles and bits. Thatisall.
Is this the same man who asked you why your dog does not have souce with her meals just a few years ago?

Out of the can. The fancy bowl is a nice touch.

I like the fancier one, now I feel like I should be doing that for Aurora but I wonder if that would just make her more pissed it at me, it’s hard to say.
As owner of a few (ahem) cats, I definately have to go with number 2. My cats would not eat the clump.

Would YOU eat out of can? That’s just not right. The parsley may be going a bit too far though.
Of course it’s with flair!
My dog is 13 (91 to you and me) I figure everyday should be a holiday for him.
2 scoops dry food mixed with one cup organic beef or chicken broth with 2 treats on top, candles and the birthday song. Twice a day.
I’m a little competitive so this might not apply to you.
competitive dog feeding? That’s my new blog…
Oh my gosh… too funny! I vote for number 2!
I’m sure either way is fine as long as you’re washing the dish everyday. With soap, of course.
Nice callback, Crisanna!
Apparently I’m cheap because I go with invisible option 3. Dry food. In my cat’s world canned food is like the caviar of food. You have to be sick or dieing to get canned food.

i think nicki should have to find her own food. don’t you have mice in your building?
oh no she di’int!!!! Suggest Marinka has mice in her building….ruh roh
Onyour finest china of course!!! Nicki deserves the very best. May I suggest a linen placemat delicately embroidered with her name and your very best china bowl or waterford crystal if you have it… There… perfect for her highness.

Oh man, first Nicki gets Waterford crystal, she tells two friends, then all the cats want one.
Ok first I thought you meant “straight out of the can” and I was all – won’t she cut her tongue? Then I read the comments that indictated maybe you just meant what shape should it be. Then I was more like – Um, she’s a cat, she licks her ass. Why waste a good garnish?
Yeah, I’m with marathon mom…kibbles. Our cats used to catch their own food- but of course we lived on a mice infested ranch in the middle of SOUTHERN California mountians (read: hills) growing up. But I’m going with option #1, a cat is NOT Gordon Ramsey – as long as they eat SOMETHING they sould be happy…or is that children? I get them mixed up! But my answer is #1, sorry…
Option #2, but with a sprig of cat grass instead of parsley. Also, you barbarians need to add a side of Perrier water.

Out of the can. The extra flourish is just a waste of time & money.
How about something in the middle? A little mashed up, so it feels less processed, but no parsley.
Depending on if I’m killing two birds with one stone.
If there is a baby in one arm, and a hungry cat crying at my feet, by all means the ‘keplunk’ can slapped serving!
Now if the cat has delivered a few mouse heads and gallbladders, He’ll absolutely be served like a King.

#1 if I’m doing it. #2 if it’s someone else.
Clump. Yes. Mashed potato-y. No.
Out of the can, as Fancy Feast intended. Of course. Next.

I think Nicki probably prefers it with flair, but I think the occasional “out of the can” will be forgive. Nicki is nothing if not magnanimous.
Ok, I can’t live like this anymore.
I must confess: I am the one who plops the food out of the can for Nicki and Husbandrinka is the one who insists that it be presented in a more appetizing manner to her.
So I asked him why and he said some nonsense about part of the joy of eating is the presentation. Which is weird, because I always thought that part of the joy of eating was shoveling the food into my mouth at breakneck speed. Apparently, opposites attract.
But the weird thing is that Husbandrinka never feeds Nicki himself. He just directs me on how to serve her.
OMG, can this relationship be saved?!
Straight to the bowl in that cute cylindrical shape! It reminds me of the cranberry sauce I’m already craving for next week, and position two looks like the cat already ate it and it didn’t sit so well…
Do you realize ther are 39 people commenting on how a cats food should be served. Dear God is this the level of conversation we have moved to???
Now it’s 40! 41!
All kidding aside, I don’t disagree. But it’s hard to talk about The Real Housewives of BH every day.

I would say out of the can, because it smells so vile to me that I want to chuck every time I get my face near unto it. So they’re lucky to get it in can shape.
